Innovations - Electric Energy Management
Energy management in vehicles is a topic nearly every automobile manufacturer is involved in. Current standard is an individual vehicle or platform-specific integration of energy management as a single characteristic solution with limited extension capabilities.
Existing approaches combine single energy components like alternators, batteries, DCDC converters or capacitors with existing functions, which are attached to real ECUs (Electronic Control Units). As a consequence these approaches either contain a reduced functionality to fit onto multiple platforms or show an optimized functionality for a single platform.
ESG has developed a Multiple Platform Energy Management which takes two aspects into account: real components with real energy requirements on the power supply busses and generic platform-independent strategies for energy management. It provides dynamic scalability for reuse on multiple and flexible platforms and proposes a generic strategy for energy distribution over the supply busses to cope with a broad variety of power consumers, generators and buffers. As a result it provides high functional flexibility for integration into multiple vehicle platforms.
